Depending on which trip you choose, you’ll be targeting a huge range of fish species.  The longer trips give you the best chance of catching deep sea predators and provide the best opportunity at a trophy catch. Local species include: Yellowfin Tuna, Bluefin Tuna, Bigeye Tuna, Dorado, Yellowtail, Rock Fish, Seabass, and Halibut.

If you wish to bow fish, you’ll need to bring your own equipment. For all other fishing techniques, high-performance rods and reels are available, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Cobalt Sportfishing Boat

The vessel “Cobalt” was built by Symbol in 1985 and had a complete re-fit in 2000. She is a 49.9’ boat and has been re-powered with twin Caterpillar 3126, 420 HP diesel engines.
Cobalt is equipped with in-deck fish holds and 3 bait tanks that can easily carry enough live bait for multi-day trips. The yacht also has many sleeping arrangements to accommodate many scenarios!! To include a private room for a couple, we can sleep two in the private masters Queen Size Bed, three in forward stateroom, and one in the mid-ship bunk!  Or three in forward stateroom, two in masters over-under bunks, and one in the mid-ship birth.

There is one large bath with shower, private head aboard that is adjacent to both staterooms. She is equipped with a beautiful open galley and seating arrangement, huge fishing cockpit with combing, higher than usual side railing for easy and safe passage around the boat, outriggers, and a huge flybridge that will accommodate everyone onboard.

About Capt. Ted Donald

Captain Ted Donald is a licensed 100 Ton USCG Master Mariner who has been Fishing, Sailing and Diving since the early 80’s  His home ports have included Australia, Canada and Hawaii before coming to San Diego 24 years ago.

He has also been a Dive instructor and Advanced Dive Master since the 80’s when he dove professionally in Australia.  Ted’s love for fishing began back in Canada as a kid. His passion for the water is evident in his love for Fishing, Sailing, Diving, and Surfing.

About Capt. Lonnie Crawford

Captain Lonnie Crawford is a United States Coast Guard 100 Ton Captain and has been working in the fishing industry for the last two decades. He was born & raised in Los Angeles, but moved to San Diego in 2002. He started competitive fishing at the age of 16, from Alaska to Mexico & various places in between. Through his passion for fishing and boating, he has learned and mastered his techniques from some of the top producing boats in the fleet, such as the Indian & the New Lo An. Every trip with Lonnie is filled with his excitement for fishing, guaranteed to be fun!
